Rules and Regulations
for overseas participants

The VIVACE International Piano Competition (VIPC) is hosted by the Association de la Pratique Artistique Sino-Française (A.P.A.), with the support of the internationally renowned Conservatoire of École Normale De Musique, Paris. The grand finals will be held in the well-known Cortot Concert Hall in Paris. 

 

Consists of two rounds by video — Preliminary and  Finals. 

 

Awards: First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Honourable Mention.

Preliminary Round: by video submission. 

Repertoire: refer to repertoire requirements for each category.

Deadline of video submission: December 31th, 2022

 

 

Final Round: by video submission.

Repertoire: refer to repertoire requirements for each category.

Date: January 15th, 2023

Categories

Category A: 4 - 6 Years Old (Born in December 2016 and after)

Category B: 6 – 8 YO (Born between December 2014-November 2016)

 

Category C: 8 – 10 YO (Born between December 2012-November 2014)

 

Category D: 10 – 12 YO (Born between December 2010-November 2012)

Category E: 12 – 15 YO (Born between December 2007-November 2010)

 

Category F: 15 - 18 YO (Born between December 2004-November 2007)

Category G: 18 - 23 YO (Born between December 1999-November 2004)

 

Artist Category A: 10-18 YO (Born in December 2012 and after)

(For music college students / professional level pianists)

Artist Category B: 18-32 YO (Born between December 1990-November 2012)

(For music college students / professional level pianists)

Repertoire Requirement

Category A: 4 - 6 Years Old

One piece – Free choice 

(Maximum duration of 5 minutes)

 


Category B: 6 – 8 YO
One piece – Free choice
(Maximum duration of 5 minutes)

Category C: 8 – 10 YO
One piece – Free choice
(Maximum duration of 8 minutes)

 

 

Category D: 10 – 12 YO
One piece – Free choice
(Maximum duration of 10 minutes)

 

 

Category E: 12 – 15 YO

One piece – Free choice
(Maximum duration of 12 minutes)

 

 

Category F: 15 - 18 YO

Two pieces of contrasting style– Free choice
(Maximum duration of 15 minutes)

 

Category G: 18 - 23 YO

Two pieces:

One Prelude and Fugue by J.S.Bach

One piece from the Romantic era
(Maximum duration of 20 minutes)

Artiste Categories (For music college students / professional level pianists)

 


Artiste Category A: 10-18 YO

Two pieces:

One fast movement from a Sonata by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven

One piece from the Romantic era

(Maximum duration of 20 mins)

 


Artiste Category B: 18-32 YO

Two pieces:

One fast movement from a Sonata by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven

One piece from the Romantic era

(Maximum duration of 30 mins)

 

*Repertoire may or may not be the same in each round.

*Contestants may choose to enter multiple categories of the same age group. For example: Sarah age 18, is entering both Category E and Artiste Category A. The repertoire she has submitted in Category E may be used as one out of the two required pieces in Artiste Category A.

Preliminary Video Guideline

  1. Video must be taken in one continuous take with NO editing.

  2. Upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo or any online platform and provide the video link when submitting the application.

  3. It is the contestants’ responsibility to make sure the video link is working, and the video could be watched without downloading.

  4. Dress code: Formal / Concert Attire

  5. Video must be recorded on or after 10 May 2022.

  6. Kindly name the video title in the following format: 

Contestant name / age / category / repertoire and composer. 

For example: Jenny Chen/5YO/Category A/Minuet in G by Bach

Other Rules

1. Winners of the 1st and 2nd prize in the Final will be eligible for the France finals. In case of any quittance, eligibility will be offered to the next-ranking participant.

 

2. The age of the participant shall be consistent with his/her ID or passport (Participants will be divided into the corresponding age group on the day of submitting application). Otherwise, the Organising Committee holds the rights to disqualify the contestant. The competition is open to all nationalities.

 

3. All repertoires must be performed from memory.

 

4. Contestants shall make sure that performance will not exceed the specified time. The judges may stop the performance of either piece for time reasons. Should this occur, it will not affect the final score.

 

5. Upon successful advancement into the final round, applicants shall upload a new video for participating in the final round. Repertoire may or may not be the same as the Preliminary round.

 

6. The registration fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to others. The applicants whose personal information filled in is inconsistent will be disqualified.

 

7. The right of contestants’ audio-visual publicity and the right of participation in performances, concerts and other activities related to the competition is owned by the Organising Committee.

 

8. The VIPC Singapore organising committee reserves all rights to the rule and regulations of VIPC Singapore division.
